CEO advises people not to carry cash more than Rs 50,000

Ranchi: Chief Electoral Officer Vinay Kumar Choubey said that in the wake of the Vidhan Sabha elections model code of conduct is prevailing in the state and has asked the people not carry cash more than Rs 50,000 with them.

He said that as per the directions of the election commission the flying squad and SST teams or enforcement agencies if recover more than Rs 50,000 in cash from any vehicle or another substance including liquor and drugs which can be used for luring the voters than it will be seized and the entire process will be video graphed.

The CEO has asked the people not get involved in heavy cash transactions and said that to address the problems of the people in every district a three-member committee has been formed which will look into such matters and will be making the decisions.

He said that in every case of seizure made by the flying squad, SST or enforcement agencies the same would be proved by the three-member committee.

The committee after its probe if it is satisfied that the cash or the items seized is not related to any political party or is going to influence the election process than the same would be released after completing the necessary procedure.
