Khadi is not a cloth but a thought: CM

Ranchi: Chief Minister Raghubar Das said that Khadi was not a mere cloth but was rather a thought which keeps the people linked with their culture.

Addressing the people after launching the Khadi On Wheels he asked the people to adopt Khadi and encourage Swadeshi and said that the efforts of the people will ensure the prosperity of the weavers.

He said that Mahatma Gandhi had always advocated the use of Khadi Clothes and products of the cottage Industries and was a believer in Swadeshi Garments, Swadharma, Swabhasha and Swasashan. He said that the central and the state governments were working to realise the dreams of Gandhiji.

The Chief Minister said that the father of the nation had also accorded importance on cleanliness and it was Prime Minister Narendra Modi who took upon the challenge to fulfill his dream and taking his pledge forward the state government made the entire state odf. He alleged that the previous governments only used the name of Gandhiji for their own benefit but it was their government which in true sense has offered tributes to Gandhiji.

Mr Das said that through Khadi On Wheels Khadi will be taken to the people and said that this vehicle should be parked in the markets and weekly bazaar so that more people are encouraged to use Khadi products and in return it will bring prosperity in the lives of the poor.

He said that there was tremendous opportunities in the area of forest produce in Jharkhand and the state government was also taking the sector forward as this can prove to be an effective medium to bring changes in the life of the people.
