Daltonganj: A major fire broke out at the central jail in Medninagar in which the CCTV control room was completely destroyed.
Officials at the central jail said that the fire broke out due to a short circuit in the CCTV control room and it took fire tenders an hour to douse the flames however by that time the entire CCTV control room was destroyed.
Jail superintendent Praveen Kumar said after receiving information regarding the fire at CCTV control room the fire brigade was informed and the flames were controlled.
He said that all the equipment have been gutted in the incident and an assessment of losses was being made, however, all the records are safe.
The Medninagar Central Jail is home to 1200 inmates which included many hardcore Maoists and criminals.
