4 arrested by Deoghar police for decamping with Rs 51 lakh from SBI ATM

Deoghar: Police has arrested four men who were involved in decamping with Rs 51.14 lakh from a SBI ATM situated in Jasidih of this district and recovered Rs 12 lakh in cash and three mobile phones from their possession.

Addressing a press conference Deoghar SP Narendra Kumar Singh said that the arrested included Sanjay Kumar Kesri (officer from administration cell of bank), Brinda Prasad (cash administration), Vijay Kumar Singh mechanical engineer) and Manoj Mandal (guard of the ATM).

He said that on July 10 due to lightning the power and CCTV line of the ATM got non-functional which remained non repaired till July 13th. On July 12th one of the main accused Sanjay Kesri and others somehow managed to obtain the secret password of the ATM and siphoned the cash in collaboration of the ATM guard.

He said that in the incident role of a senior bank officer and manager Prashant Kumar is also suspicious and even suspected that many other officers are also involved in this act.
