Eight criminals arrested by Lalpur police with arms

Ranchi: Police has arrested eight criminals along with pistols from near the Birsa Munda Football Stadium located at Morabadi Grounds of the state capital while they were planning a loot.

Addressing a press conference here Ranchi City SP Aman Kumar said the officer in charge of Lalpur Police Station Ramod Kumar Singh was tipped off about the presence of these criminals after which a police party raided late in the night on Tuesday and arrested these criminals among whom few are from Ramgarh and Hazaribagh districts. The SP said that after being cornered by the police these criminals tried to flee on their two-wheelers but were caught by the policemen. Upon searching police recovered a couple of pistols with magazines, a revolver, seven live cartridges of 9mm, two other live cartridges of .38, a couple of sharp-edged weapons, Rs 7000 in cash, 10 mobile phones, a motorcycle and couple of scootys.

The arrested have been identified as Pramarti Mishra (27) Rajesh Prasad (43) (both from Ramgarh) Babloo Rana (31) (Hazaribagh), Sunil Kachhap (34) Mohit Kumar Verma (21) Narayan Oraon (36) Pravesh Kumar (21) and Kanhaiya Mandal (42) ( all hailing from separate police station areas of Ranchi district). The SP said that upon interrogation the arrested confessed that they had planned to loot an employee of the Rinchi Hospital at Kathal Mode who was supposed to go in the bank around afternoon to deposit cash worth about Rs 8 lakh.
