Left parties to contest 50 seats in assembly elections in Jharkhand

Ranchi: The left parties in the state have decided to contest on 50 seats during the assembly elections as a decision in this regard was taken in a joint meeting of the left parties which was held at CPI office here.

In the meeting, it was decided that at no seat candidate of more than one left party will be contesting and no friendly fights will take place on any seat. It was also decided that a door will be kept open for negotiations with JMM’s Hemant Soren comes with an acceptable proposal of seat-sharing to the left parties.

CPI state secretary and former MP Bhuneshwar Prasad Mehta said that if the other parties in the opposition will come up with a decent proposal for the Left on the issue of seat-sharing that the matter will be positively taken up.

He said that if Hemant Soren will fix a time for talks than the left parties will be unitedly participating in any such dialogue. Mr Mehta said that it was also agreed that the left will work to makes its independent identity and stage a strong fight against the BJP in Jharkhand.

The meeting was also attended by other parties of the Left Bloc including CPI(M), CPI(ML), MCC, RSP, Forward Block etc.
