Daltonganj: Police has arrested the mastermind behind the Vanachal Gramin Bank Loot incident from Pratappur Police Station area of the neighbouring Chatra district.
Chattarpur SDPO Shambu Singh said that last month a group of six criminals had looted Rs 6.5 lakh from the bank out of which four criminals have been already arrested and forwarded to jail. However, the kingpin of the gang Ashok Mahto alias Vijay alias Rahul was evading arrest who following a tip off was arrested from the neighbouring district.
The police officer said that Asho Mahto has had criminal past and was wanted in more than 20 incidents of loot and dacoity in Chatra, Gazaribagh and Gaya district. He was also wanted in three murder cases.
