Gumla: A man in his mid-fifties was shot dead at Urmi village on the Gumla-Simdega road under Sadar Police Station area of this district. The deceased has been identified as Manjhi Oraon (55) a resident of Bargaon Barwatoli. The man used to work as a mason.
The son of the deceased said that early in the morning his father has left home to work at an under construction site when midway he was caught by two masked gunmen who shot him from a close range and fled from the spot.
Agitated over the incident the locals had blocked traffic movement on the Gumla-Simdega road demanding compensation for the kin of the deceased.
