BJP MPs urge PM to make HEC part of Nuclear Energy Department, demand railway zonal office in Ranchi

Ranchi: BJP MPs from Jharkhand have urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to make HEC part of the nuclear energy department and have also requested him to open a zonal office of the railways in Ranchi.

MPs Sanjay Seth, Annapurna Devi, Bidyut Baran Mahto and Sunil Soren met the Prime Minister on Tuesday. Mr Seth said that since its inception HEC has played an important role in the industrial development of the country and was the only institution where equipments for the nuclear and atomic sectors is being manufactured and pointed that recently a high-level committee formed by the Niti Aayog has submitted a technical report to the union government regarding modernization of HEC.

The MPs have watched the Prime Minister that keeping in mind the importance of HEC including its manufacture of the equipment for the nuclear sector and its role in the future it should be transferred from the industries department to the nuclear energy department.

Mr Seth also earth that are zonal office of the railway should be opened in Ranchi and pointed out that every year from Jharkhand railway on a revenue of Rs 25000 crore. He said at present the zonal headquarters of the South Eastern Railway was in Kolkata which should be transferred to Ranchi or Dhanbad rail division of the East Central Railway should be made part of Ranchi and a new Railway Division should be created.

He pointed out that even in Chhattisgarh and Orissa Railway zonal offices have been opened which has held in the development of infrastructure in these two States.
