Elephant electrocuted in Saraikela

Saraikela-Kharsawan: A male elephant lots his life after he came into contact with a high tension wire in Tinagoda of Kharsawan block of this district. Villagers said that a group of seven elephants had entered into the area through Kashidih forest Sunday night during which it damaged many homes in Poitudih and later reached Tinagoda. One of the male elephants in the group in the wee hours of the day came into contact with a high tension wire which was passing through a field due to which he died on the spot.

Upon receiving information DFO Aditya Naryan and Forest Officer of Kharsawan Krishan Kumar Sah reached on the spot. The officials of the forest department said that a couple of tusks of the elephant measuring almost 2.5 feet and weighing about 30 kilograms were removed and after post-mortem, the tusker was buried.
