Khunti police arrests 4 with 10 kilograms of opium and loaded rifle

Khunti: In a major success for the Khunti Police four smugglers were arrested along with 10 kilograms of opium and a loaded rifle from Arki Police Station area of this district.

Addressing a press conference on Saturday Khunti SP Alok said that he had on Friday he had received a tip-off that two bike-borne men coming from Tamar to Khunti were carrying a huge amount of opium after which a vehicle checking drive was launched in the area. During the drive couple of men on a motorcycle were signaled to stop but instead, they sped away after which police chased them and arrested them.

The SP said that during the investigation the duo identified themselves as Muchirai Munda and Etwa Munda from whose possession one kilogram of opium was recovered. Later acting on the lead provided by them from Dandeya village of Marangdaha police station area Pandeya Munda and Lal Singh Munda were arrested and from them, 9 kilograms of opium and 90 kilograms of husk was recovered.
