Sanjay Seth demands Central University status for Ranchi University

Ranchi: Ranchi MP Sanjay Seth on Wednesday raised the issue of according the status of Central University for Ranchi University in the zero hour of the Lok Sabha.

He said that the university which is located in the heart of the city was established in the year 1980 and has added many feathers in its cap for its achievements in the field of education. He said that the varsity also caters to a large population of the state and is a major learning destination for the tribal youths.

He pointed that out of 1.48 students who had enrolled in the university 49993 are from tribal community which makes 30 percent of the total enrolment which included 28993 tribal girls. He said that the University is located in the area which caters to tribes such as Munda, Khariya and Oraon who have their different languages and culture.

He said that due to the achievements in the area of academies, arts and sports it has been awarded the B grade by NSE but was facing difficulties to develop its institutional infrastructure and undertake development projects at different levels it should be accorded the status of central university which is also a long pending demand of the people of the area.
