Ranchi: Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for AYUSH Shripad Yesso Naik said that the theme for this year’s World Yoga Day is ‘yoga for heart’. Addressing a press conference at the project building here he said Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself will be present in the main function to be held at the Prabhat Tara Grounds.
He also heaped praise on the preparations being made by the state government to organize the event. “It is due to the efforts of the Prime Minister that International yoga Day is being celebrated across the world on June 21,” he said adding that in Indian culture Yoga has become an important part of the lifestyle and it is a matter of pride that Yoga has reached across the globe. He said that June 21 is a historic day for the people of Jharkhand as Ranchi was selected among the five cities to host the function.
He exuded confidence that people of Ranchi will turn up in large numbers to participate in the programme and the event will be a huge success as compared to the last four editions. He said that the inaugural function was held at Rajpath where 40,000 people had participated and later it was taken to Chandigarh, Dehradun and Lucknow. The minister said that it is the target for the government that Yoga should reach in the homes of the people. He said that separate function will also be organised across all the states on the occasion.
To a query, he said that this year no celebrity has been invited for the programme and hoped that foreign delegates from at least 20 countries would be attending the function. Those present in the press conference also included Health Minister Ramchandra Chandravanshi and Health Secretary Nitin Madan Kulkarni.
