846 hardcore Maoist killed post creation of Jharkhand, search still on for another 550

Ranchi: On account of the continuous anti-insurgency operations in the state the organisation of the CPI Maoists PLFI and TPC has weakened Jharkhand and the number of incidents executed by them has also come down.

According to the Jharkhand Police, there are only 550 Maoists left in the state out of which on 250 awards has been declared while the process was on to declare the award on another 30 ultras. To catch hold of these remaining ultras a large number of security personnel comprising 122 companies of CRPF 5 of IRB and 40 of Jharkhand Jaguar are currently working in the state.

Data from January 2019 reveals that in 25 Encounters so far 18 ultras have been killed and 65 arrested while for other Maoist have surrendered before the police. Prior to 2010 in the week of Maoist attack police use to adopt defensive tactics but now it has become aggressive and the moral of the security personnel was on high after they have been successful in reaching to the core group of the ultras operating in the state.

In the year 2018 about 160 maoists were killed by the security forces while another 1200 arrested and 360 surrendered. Police claims that maoists incidents in the state have reduced by almost 40 per cent.

Senior Police official said that with the input of local intelligence units success has been achieved in fight against my ways as they are able to understand the code words and the local languages. Moreover, use cache of detonators and other explosive materials have also been recovered by the police while 250 IEDS were also detected.

According to the police records in the last 18 years a total of 5688 Maoist attack took place in the state in which so far 510 policemen have been martyred while 846 ultras have been killed. According to the latest input available with police many senior leaders of the Maoists are currently camping in Kuchai area of Saraikela Kharsawan district. Polit Bureau Member Prashant Bose who is carrying a reward of Rs 1 crore along with other hardcore ultras is in Saraikela district.
