Cyber crime graph increases in Jharkhand, police stations yet to come up in all districts

Ranchi: Jharkhand has emerged as one of the hotbeds for cyber criminals in the country and despite talks of opening cyber forensic lab none of the things have materialised on the ground. Nodal officer for cyber crime of state police department had also sent a proposal to the home department to open forensic labs.

The then DGP D K Pandey had also announced a decision to open cyber police stations in all the district but in reality, in only six districts the cyber police stations are operational while in 18 others it has not been opened. Jamtara has emerged as the biggest safe den for cyber criminals in the country but now their roots have spread to 22 other districts and police has not been able to control them.

As per the information more than 150 groups of cyber criminals are active in the state. The police have identified many such groups but they continue to be a headache. However not putting their guards down the police has started attaching their property. Most of the cases of cyber crime are related to ATM fraud.

The criminals who are in the age group of 20-30 years target old age persons or women inside the arms or seek vital information by posing as bank officials. Such is modus operandi of these criminals that even police teams from Chhattisgarh Delhi West Bengal Haryana Uttarakhand and Maharashtra have conducted raids in Giridih Deoghar Dumka Jamtara and Hazaribagh districts to nab these criminals
