Padamshri Jamuna Tudu performs Aarti of trees on World Environmental Day

Ghatshila: Padamshri Jamuna Tudu alongwith her associates on the occasion of World Environment Day visited the Sunsuniya forest located in BhatKunda Panchayat of Chakulia block and performed the Aarti of the Sal trees and took pledge to save them as their brothers.

Tudu who is also known as Lady Tarzan in the area said that now there are more than 300 branches of her Van Prabandhan Evam Sanrakshan Committee. In a committee there are many women members who patrol the forests and make efforts to preserve the trees and also create awareness among the villagers to undertake plantation drive.

She said that for the earth the trees are very important and all should pay attention towards them.

On the occasion sweets were also distributed among the people. Jamuna said that while on one hand there are talks of development on the other hand for their selfish interest the people are destroying the nature. She said that every year the government and organisations are undertaking plantation drives but reality is far from different.

She said that in the name of schemes lakes of trees are planted but their care is not taken. She said that due to lack of trees the environment was changing rapidly and if the human beings fail to realise that than future would be disastrous. She said that it is estimated that everyday 100 acres of forest are being destroyed in the world.
