Dumka: A jawan of the SSB was martyred while four others were injured following an encounter with the Maoists which took place under Kathalia area under Ranieshwar Police Station area of this district.
The martyred jawan has been identified as Neeraj Chatri. Among the injured jawans the condition of one Rajesh Kumar Rai was stated to be critical.
Dumka SP Y S Ramesh confirmed the casualty and expressed confidence that Maoists too would have suffered losses.
He said that after the killing of Tala Da the squads of Vijay and Nishikant were active in the area with whom the encounter took place.
He said that three jawans Karan Kumar, Satish Gujar and Sonu Kumar are being treated at Sadar Hospital.
He said that jawan Rajesh Rai who has been air lifted to Ranchi has sustained bullet injuries in his both legs.
Meanwhile Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das has expressed his grief over the martyrdoom of the jawan. He said that in the time of grief the entire Jharkhand is with the family of the deceased.
Mr Das said that terrorism was counting its last breath in the state. He said that government was committed for wiping out the terrorists.
