Khunti MP Arjun Munda inducted in Modi Cabinet

Ranchi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi took oath for the second time and Former Jharkhand Chief Minister Arjun Munda was also inducted as 13 th cabinet rank minister in the Union Cabinet as part of his new team.

Mr Munda had received the phone call from the PMO for making into the Union Cabinet. Mr Munda has served as the Chief Minister of the state on three occasions.

In the 16th Lok Sabha Jayant Sinha and Sudarshan Bhagat had been included as Union Ministers for State. Arjun Munda managed to win from the Khunti Lok Sabha seat of Jharkhand in a nervous battle against Kalicharan Munda of the Congress by a margin of just 1445 votes. He was fielded from the tribal reserved constituency after the party decided to deny ticket to its 8 time MP Kariya Munda. He had served as the Chief Minister of the state on three occasions including 2003, 2005 and 2010 and was very first time elected at the age of 27 as the MLA from Kharsawan seat on the JMM ticket but later switched to the BJP in 2000.

Mr Munda also won from the Jamshedpur Lok Sabha seat of the state in 2009 and served as national secretary of the party. Mr Munda was born on May 3, 1968 to Ganesh Munda and Saira Munda in Kharanjhar of Jamshedpur and is youngest among the three siblings. He completed his high school from Jamshedpur and graduation from Ranchi University and also holds PG diploma from IGNOU.
