Health department to run intensive diarrhea control campaign from May 28

Ranchi: Director Chief Health Services Rajendra Paswan said the Health Department will run intensive diarrhea control fortnight campaign from May 28 to June 8 in the state.

Addressing the media at Suchna Bhawan here he said that compared to 2011 in Jharkhand, there has been a continuous decline in the death rate of children, but the number of deaths in children below 5 years of age is quite high. He said that according to the data, 10 per cent of deaths in children under 5 years of age are due to diarrhea. In this people will be made aware of the prevention of death from diarrhea.

During the press conference, the Medical Officer gave information about various activities through the presentation that will be done in the fortnight. He said that 39,964 Sahiyas will distribute ORS with the help of 5638 ANMs.
Children who are found to be suffering from diarrhea will be given ORS along with zinc tablets for up to 14 days and will also be provided information about breastfeeding and eating habits after the recovery, the officer said. He said that a target of making 4176 Zinc Corner has been set, through which people can get information and at the same time they can be treated at the right time. The Medical Officer said that awareness programs in schools will also be organized.
