School boy run over by coal laden ‘hyva’ in Hazaribagh

Hazaribagh: A 15 year old school boy was run over by a speeding coal laden ‘hyva’ at Rajabagi under Barkagaon Police Station area of this district.

The deceased has been identified as Ganesh Kumar (15). The boy was going to school when he was hit by the speeding vehicle due to which he died on the spot.

Upon receiving information the people got angry and damaged the vehicle and did not allow the police to send the body for post-mortem demanding compensation. The agitation was called off after almost 12 hours when an agreement was reached between the local administration and management of the Magadh -Amrapali coalfields as per which it was decided to pay Rs 5 lakh as compensation to the family members out of which Rs 3.50 lakh was paid upfront and the remaining amount was assured to be paid later. The body was then sent for postmortem.
