Three Maoist affected LS seats to go for poll amid tight security

Ranchi: The three Maoist affected Lok Sabha seats spread over in six districts will take place on Monday amid tight security arrangements.

More than 140 companies of paramilitary forces have deployed to conduct the peaceful polling. More than 40 per cent polling booths have in these areas are sensitive or over sensitive. In remote areas, polling officials were dispatched by helicopter.

Fate of 59 candidates will be decided by of 45,26, 691 voters in first phase of Jharkhand poll on three Maoist affected LokSabha seats on Monday, said an official on Sunday.

In first phase polling will take place on three Lok Sabha seats- Lohardagga, Chatra and Palamau on Monday. The important candidates include central Minister Sudarsan Bhagat from Lohardagga. BJP had won all the three seats in 2014 Lok Sabha poll.
The polling will take place on total 6072 polling booths spread across these three seats. The total number of male voters was 23,85,932, female voters 21,40,750 and 11 third gender voters. Voters can cast their votes from 7 am to 4 pm.

In Chatra there is a triangular fight among Sunil Singh of the BJP, Manoj Yadav of the Congress and Subhash Yadav of the RJD while in Lohardaga Sudarshan Bhagat of the BJP will take on Sukhdeo Bhagat of the Congress. In Palamu the main battle is between VD Ram of the BJP and Ghuran Ram of the RJD.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had campaigned in favour of the Sudarshan Bhagat and lured voters that his govt worked for every section of the society including Christian without considering their religion. The Christian population is in good numbers in LOhardagga constituency.

Chamra Linda who had come on the third position due to his large following among Christian community in 2014 by securing more than 80,000 votes has extended support to Congress candidate. In 2014, BJP candidate had won by just 6000 votes margin. Elaborate security arrangements have been made for the polling. According to Police sources, static forces will cover the majority of the polling booths.

Helicopters have been kept on standby for any eventualities.
