Gumla: A person lost his life while three others were injured following an incident of mob lynching which took place in Jurum village of Dumri Police Station area of this district.
Police sources said that a person from the neighboring village had spotted few men cutting meat of a prohibited animal on the banks of a local river after he alerted his fellow villagers. Soon a huge crowd from Jairagi village gathered on the bank of the river and surrounded the men who were mercilessly thrashed before being handed over to the police.
The injured were identified as Prakash Lakra (55), Peter Kerketta (40), Janwarius Minz (42) and Baliyusis Tirkey (60). The injured were rushed to the nearby health care center where Prakash succumbed to his injuries.
After the incident came to notice DIG Amol V Homkar and SP Anjani Jha reached on the spot. The DIG said that a SIT has been formed under the SP to arrest the culprits.
