Exit polls banned from April 11 to May 19

Ranchi: State’s Chief Electoral Officer L Khiyangate said that the Election Commission of India has put a ban on all types of exit polls from 7 am on April to 6.30 pm on May 19 till the voting concludes in the country for Lok Sabha polls of 2019.

He said that during this period any type of broadcast or publishing of exit polls on print or electronic media or through any other medium is prohibited. Under subsection 1 of article 126 of the Peoples Representative Act,  the ECI has issues necessary instructions related to conducting the exit polls, its results or broadcasting the same.
