Star campaigners list for four political parties approved by EC

Ranchi: State’s Chief Electoral Officer L Khiyangate said that star campaigners list of four political parties including the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha and Bahujan Samajwadi Party has been approved by the commission. Addressing a press conference here Mr Khiyangate said that the poll body has approved JMM’s star campaigners list consisting of 40 names, BSP 40 names, CPI (ML) 15 names and All India Forward Block 1 name. He said that through Suvidha app online permission is being given for vehicle permit for campaigning, construction of helipad, landing of helipad and opening temporary party offices. He said in the entire state in a phase wise manner workshops would be organised for the media persons.

He said that in the Palamu division the workshop would be held on April 5, in South Chottanagpur division in Gumla on April 8, in Deoghar of Santhal Pargana division on April 10, in Dhanbad of North Chottanagpur division on April 11 and in Jamshedpur on April 15 for the Kolhan division. He said in the workshop the media persons would be informed about the various facilities which the Election Commission of India is providing to the voters and their
usage on April 30.

Mr Khiyangate said that for campus ambassadors the orientation camp up would be held in the Universities and colleges on April 3 in which students of Ranchi Women’s college will be participating. He said earlier also a meeting has been held with the registrar and deans of the universities in which they have been asked to create voter awareness in and around the university and colleges areas.

The Chief Electoral Officer said that to create awareness among the voters and increase the voting percentage all possible mediums are being used to create awareness and as part of the initiative through LED vans the video highlighting the need of voter awareness is being showcased. He said that for voter awareness the advertisement material jingles video clips and AD films which have been prepared at the local level can be seen on the Facebook page Twitter and Instagram accounts of the chief electoral officer and through static mobile screen cinema hall and LED Van also awareness is being created.

Mr Khiyangate said that for the training of the voters related to EVM and VVPAT in the entire state 645 centers have been formed while apart from that 1545 mobile vans are being also used for to showcase EVM and VVPAT machines. He further detailed that election schools in 23295 polling booths, 935 voter awareness forum in different institutions and voter literacy clubs in 3433 colleges and schools have been formed.
