Name of Mukund Nayak proposed as state icon to EC

Ranchi: Chief Electoral Officer L Khiyangate has recommended the name of Padma Shri Mukund Nayak for state icon to the Election commission of India for the Lok Sabha elections of 2019. A meeting was earlier held in the office of the Chief Electoral Officer under the sweep program to select the district icon in which after detailed discussion 32 names were recommended.

Mr Khiyangate said that as per the directions of the Election commission of India district icons have been nominated which include people who have made achievements in different fields of life. He said that the district icons would create awareness among the voters and take initiative to increase the participation of the people in the election process. He said that additional proposal for district icon in Ranchi and Deoghar district will also be accepted.

Eminent names which have been selected to add on the role of district icons also included Archer Madhumita Kumari cricketer Shahbaz Nadeem and captain Shikha Surbhi.
