Defection Row: HC issues notices to 6 MLAs, asks them to reply within 4 weeks

Ranchi: Partial hearing took place in the Jharkhand High Court on the defection of six MLAs of the JVM(P) into BJP. The court letter issued a notice to the six MLA and has asked them to reply within 4 weeks. The MLAs who have been issued the notice included Naveen Jaiswal Ganesh Ganju Amar Kumar Bauri Alok Chaurasia Randhir Singh and Janki Prasad Yadav.

These MLAs had won on the JVM(P) ticket during the Assembly elections of December 2014 but had later switched to the BJP after which Amar Kumar Bauri and Randhir Singh were inducted as ministers into the state cabinet. JVM (P) supremo Babulal Marandi and General Secretary Pradeep Yadav had challenged the verdict of speaker court in which speaker Dinesh Oraon had declared the merger valid and had rejected their demands of disqualification these MLAs from the membership of the house.
