37,097 service voters to cast their votes in Jharkhand

Ranchi: A total of 37,097 service voters will be exercising their votes in Lok Sabha elections in the state which included 35,875 male and 1222 female voters. Chief Electoral Officer L Khiyangate said that the figures are tentative as according to the provisions of the Election commission of India the process of inclusion of names of the service voters will continue till the process of nomination is completed. 

He said that for the help of the voters 1950 helpline number has been started and awareness is being spread regarding this number so that more people are made aware and are able to use it. He said that any person can download the voter helpline number from google play store and iPhone. He said that according to the data registered on the voter list till 10 March 2019 the maximum number of service voters was in Ranchi at 6681 which included 6366 male and 285 women voters. The Ranchi Lok Sabha seat is spread across assembly segments of Tamar, Silli, Khijri, Ranchi, Hatia, Kanke and Mandar.

Next is Palamu where number of service voters in 3660 followed by Gumla at 3299 Dhanbad 3118 and Hazaribagh 2581 service voters. On the other hand Pakur has the least number of service voters at 196. The number of service voters in 20 districts is less than 100. He said that Ranchi has maximum number of service voters at 285 followed by Gumla 137, Bokaro 106 and Khunti 102. Under Indian People Representative Act 1951 those who are included under service voters included personnel in the armed forces, jawans of state police deputed in other states, central officials posted outside the country, employees posted in different embassies, NRIs and service voters who are staying with their wives.
