All platforms being used to create awareness among voters says Chief Electoral Officer

Ranchi: Chief Electoral Officer L Khiyangate said that awareness campaign is being across all the possible platforms to ensure participation of the people in the election process. Addressing a press conference here that as per the directions of the Election Commission of India all possible medians are being used to create awareness among the voters and to increase the voting percentage. He said that as part of the initiative in the LED vans of the IPRD video related to voter awareness is being shown. He said that the advertisement material in the form of jingles video clips and Ad films which have been prepared at the local level can be seen on the Facebook page Twitter and Instagram accounts of the Chief Electoral Officer apart from that through Static and mobile screen cinema halls and LED vans advertisement and awareness is being spread. 

Mr Khiyangate said to give training to the voters related to EVM-VVPAT machines in the state a total of 644 static centers have been formed and another 1476 mobile vans are being used to showcase the EVM and VVPAT machines to the people. He said that in 20118 polling booths election schools have been set up while another 825 voter awareness forums have been set up. On the other hand in different colleges and schools 3359 voter literacy clubs have been formed. He said that in April meeting will be held with all brand ambassadors of the districts.

Mr Khiyangate said that on the C vigil app a total of 197 complaints related to violation of model code of conduct has been received out of which 54 complaints have been found to be correct and they have been addressed. He said that apart from that 20 complaints related to use of sound system without permission pamphlet distribution have been received in which in 16 cases FIRs would be registered. The Chief Electoral Officer said for the assistance of the voters helpline number 1950 has been launched through which the voters can collect information related to the polling booths inclusion of their names in the voter list and filing applications for getting the Epic cards made.

He said that awareness is being created regarding this helpline number so that more people can make its use and informed that on March 29 at all the polling booths BLOs would be present where any voter can collect information related to the inclusion of their names in the voter list and location of the polling booth etc. Mr Khiyangate said that any person having an Android mobile can download the water help line from the Google Play Store and iPhone.
