Former Chief secretary Lakshmi Singh passes away

Ranchi: Former Chief Secretary and ex-chairperson of the Jharkhand Academic Council Lakshmi Singh passed away on Saturday at
the age of 73. She had been admitted at Medica on March 2 following complaints of infection in the chest. Doctors treating her at the hospital said that she died following a cardiac arrest.

After creation of a separate state of Jharkhand Ms Singh had served on various important posts. On Nov 1, 2003 she was made the chief secretary and remained on that post till December 13 2004. After retiring she was made the chairperson of the Jharkhand academic Council. Chief secretary Sudhir Tripathi has expressed his condolence over the demise of Laxmi Singh. In his message, he has prayed to almighty to rest her soul in peace and give strength to the family to overcome the grief of her loss.

He said that Laxmi Singh was a dedicated and energetic IAS officer who after retiring also went on to serve as the chairperson of the state woman commission and JAC. On the other hand, the members of JIASOWA have also expressed their grief over her demise. A two minute silence was also observed by the members as part of paying tributes to the departed soul.
