Chief Electoral Officer asks officials to ensure implementation of model code of conduct

Ranchi: Chief electoral officer has directed all the district electoral officers to ensure that the model code of conduct is properly
implemented in their respective areas. State’s Chief Electoral officer L Khiyangate through video conferencing has directed the officials
to make sure that the model code of conduct is properly implemented as after the announcement of the dates for the Lok Sabha polls the code of conduct has come into place. He also detailed the various instructions which have been issued by the Election Commission of India to ensure the implementation of the model code of conduct to the officials.

Additional chief electoral officer Manish Ranjan said that after the announcement of the dates of the election the C vigil app has started functioning. He said that through this app any person can register a complaint before the officials related to violation of model code of conduct and detailed that on the app a photo depicting the violation or a video of maximum two minutes can be uploaded which would be taken cognizance within 100 minutes and it would be addressed. He also directed all the district electoral officers Senior Superintendent of police and Superintendent of Police to every day send the report on law and order situation implementation of model code of conduct and sweep related activities to the office of the chief electoral officer. 

Mr Ranjan said that the pink boots will not have any specific colour but all the work related to elections would be done by only women personnel on duty. He said that the women personnel are free to wear clothing of any colour of their choice on that day. Mr Ashish Batra IG operations cum Nodal Officer of Jharkhand Police through video conferencing said that to ensure the implementation of the model code of conduct and look into the complaints which have been registered by the people pointing violations in the C vigil app would be probed by SFT team. He said that the team would finish the probe as per the stipulated time frame decided by the Election commission of India and would submit its report on the violation of model code of conduct. Mr Bhadra also give various other instructions to ensure peaceful fair and fearless polls.
