Ranchi District administration inks MoU with UNDP to develop 12 villages

Ranchi: An MoU was inked between the Ranchi district administration and United Nation Development Programme for development
of 12 villages near Birsa Munda airport.

The deal was inked between UNDP representative Manish Mohan Das and Ranchi DC Rai Mahimpet Rey. Mr. Rey said that the cost
of the project is Rs 6.18 crore and would be executed within three years. Under CSR the funds would be provided to the Airports
Authority of India for the socioeconomic development of these villages. He said that UNDP would be the executing authority and
would ensure all-round development of the villages. He said that under the project focus would be accorded in the health sector in which basic infrastructure would be improved and facilities in the medical clinics would be enhanced. He said that apart from the emergency services a mobile medical unit would also be operated.

The DC said that another key focus area of the project is to work in the education sector keeping in mind the low literacy rate and high
dropout rate. He said that apart from improving the basic structure of the schools the capacity of the teachers would also be improved
while another focus area would be the establishment of a proper drainage system which is important to prevent the spread of disease
and maintain a healthy life. He said that the results targeted under the Swachh Bharat mission would be made part of this project by
on the other hand to increase the capacity of the youth for getting jobs they would be provided commercial training.

The project would also, focus to develop rural disaster management scheme so that the villages have the capacity to work jointly in case of a natural disaster. The villages which have been selected under the scheme included Hundru Chota Ghagra Hetu Karamtoli Latma etc.
