Maoist couple surrenders before Chaibasa police

Chaibasa: A Maoist couple carrying a reward of Rs 1 lakh each on their heads surrendered before the Chaibasa Police here

Chaibasa jailbreak accused Goinda Gagrai alias Ranveer Patro along with his wife Shanti Kandulna alias Albina surrendered before Chaibasa SP Chandan Kumar Jha and CRPF commandant Dr. Prem Chand. Goinda was a member of the Maoist squad led by subzonal commander Anmol Da and had been absconding police arrest since long. He was also one of the accused in the Chaibasa jailbreak incident. 

SP Chandan Kumar Jha said that the man hailed from Sundargarh district of Odisha while his wife was from West Singhbhum District of Jharkhand. He said that three separate cases each are leveled on Goinda and his wife Shanti and the duo had surrendered due to the rising pressure of the police and CRPF.

As part of the surrender and rehabilitation policy of the state government the duo were handed over a cheque of Rs 50000 each while the remaining amount would be given to their family members.
