Ranchi: Director of the Railway Board New Delhi Harish Pawaria has directed that in the stations which fall in the 6 districts of the Santhal Pargana division of Jharkhand and those under the East Singhbhum district there announcement would be made in the Santali language.
Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das had written a letter on February 27 to Union Railways minister Piyush Goyal urging him that announcement in all the stations of the Santhal Pargana division and those in the East Singhbhum district
should be made in Hindi along with the Santhali language and on the information board name of the railway station and other information should be depicted in the Ol Chiki language.
In his letter he had pointed that it was under the tenure of former Prime Minister late Atal Bihari Vajpayee that Santhali language was included in the 8th schedule of the constitution. Keeping in mind the huge population of the Santhal tribes which resides in the six districts of the Santhal Pargana division comprising Dumka Deoghar Pakur Ghodda Jamtara and Sahibganj district and East Singham district of Kolhan he had directed that the names of the offices and the schools should also be written in the Ol Chiki language so that people speaking Santhali language do not have any difficulties and they can easily identify the offices and schools
