ECI holds video conferencing with District Electoral Officials

Ranchi: The Election Commission of India held a video conferencing with the district electoral officials and shared information related to the technical aspects related with the filing of nominations paper and allotments of symbol. During this the Electoral officials raised the problems faced during the allocation of symbols to which the commission addressed their problems. Hazaribagh DC cum Electoral officer Ravishankar Shukla sought to know whether nominations of any candidate can be cancelled over wrong signatures over which the commission said that on the issue of signature the nominations cannot be cancelled and said that incase of any problem than the official should inform the concerned candidate and if needed the verification of the documents or the candidate would be done and the candidate would be given a chance to improve their signature.

Chatra DC cum Electoral officer sought to know by when the checklist for the process of filling of nominations to its scrutiny would be available on the website the commission said that preparations of the checklist was in the final stages and within a week would be put on the website. During the video conferencing questions related to even and BB pet was solved by the commission and details were also provided as to what the steps should be taken when the control unit or the ballot unit fails and it was informed that in this condition the control unit ballot unit and VVPAT machines should be immediately changed and after conducting of mock polls the process of voting should be once again commenced however if the VVPAT only malfunctions due to some reason then it should be only changed and in that condition the mock poll would not be held. During the video conferencing additional chief electoral officer Vinay Kumar Choubey and Manish Ranjan were also present.
