307 ‘third genders’ among 2.19 crore eligible voters for LS polls in state

Ranchi: A total of 2,19,81,479 voters are eligible to cast their votes in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls from Jharkhand which also includes 307 ‘third genders’.

Addressing a Press Conference State’s Chief Electoral Officer L Khiyangate said that the number of male voters was 1150 7697 while that of the female voters was 10473 475. He said that as far as the number of booths was concerned their numbers was 4404 in the urban areas while 25060 were in the rural areas.

He said that out of a total 29464 booths 85.24 pc have ramp facility while electricity was present at 72.14 booths. He said that at 95.24 pc booths there were drinking water facilities while another 94.90 pc booths have toilets and 89.30 pc have waiting for area/sheds.
Mr Khiyangate said that as part of the revision of electoral rolls 13314 cases of multiple entries was found out of which 1107 have been rectified while a total of 27322 cases of logical errors have been detected.

He said that for the benefit of the Divyang many steps have been taken including providing vehicles and attendant for them while for the visually challenged voter slip would be provided to them in Braille and name and symbol of the candidates would also be mentioned in the Braille language on the ballot machines.

Those present in the press conference also included additional chief electoral officer Vinay Chaubey and Manish Ranjan.
