Gajju Gope was not killed in encounter as claimed by police alleges wife Sangita

Gumla: Wife of the sub-zonal commander of the PLFI Gajju Gope alias Guruji has refuted police claims of her husband being killed in an encounter and alleged that after catching her husband police shot him dead to win accolades.

Sangita alias Savita Kumari who reached the postmortem house to collect the body of her husband claimed that he has been shot in the head and she would take the matter to the Human Rights Commission or in the court.

Sangita said that to hide their wrong acts police was even preventing the media from reaching the exact incident spot and said that nobody picks the gun himself but it is the acts of the police which force them to become a rebel. She said that Gajju in the year 2008 had joined PLFI and despite attempts by her and other family members did not return to the mainstream of life. She said that she had last spoken to her husband on Saturday evening. The couple were married in 2012 and have two sons aged 7 and 4 respectively.
Sangita herself hails from Solegutu of Kamdara and has worked as a nurse between 2013-2017 at Tokel and was sent to jail in a case but came out on bail six months ago. Her father is also lodged in jail in a murder case.

Gajju was the closest confidant of PLFI supremo Dinesh Gope and a total of 38 cases are registered against him in different police stations. He rose to his peak after the murder of Bano police Station officer in charge Vidyapati. His death has given respite to the traders and contractors of the area who had to pay a levy to him
