Making farmers economically strong is the goal of Prime Minister says Raghubar

Ranchi: Chief Minister Raghubar Das said that to make the farmers of the country economically strong Prime Minister Narendra Modi has launched from Gorakhpur of Uttar Pradesh Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana and under this scheme more than one crore eligible farmers have received a sum of Rs 2,000 as the first installment directly in their bank accounts through DBT.
Addressing the people during the inauguration of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Yojana at Ormanjhi here he said that under this scheme 22.76 lakh farmers of the state would be covered.

The Chief Minister said that agriculture is the backbone of the state and the country and the real India and real Jharkhand lives in the villages so when the villages our prosperous then only the country and the state would progress he said adding that economic empowerment of the villagers is the dream of the Prime Minister and to fulfill his dream the state government is also working together with the central government.

He said that it is the target of the state government to make sure that the farmers stand on their feet for which mukhyamantri Krishi Ashirwad Yojana has been started under which the farmers would be eligible to get a sum of Rs 5000 for less than 1 acres of land and while the maximum payment would be Rs 25000. He said that the funds would be directly given in the accounts of the farmers in the month of May and apprised that under Pradhan Mantri Kisan Yojana more than 5 lakh farmers of Jharkhand have received the first installment of Rs 2,000 through dbt in their accounts and in total of three installment they would be really getting Rs 6000 from the central government to purchase seeds and fertilizers.

He said that improving the condition of the farmers is one of the top priority areas for the central and the state government as the farmers are the annadatha for the entire society and when they would become self-reliant then only the country would become an economic superpower and stressed on the need that farmers should not be only dependent on agriculture but should also look at horticulture animal husbandry fisheries poultry etc. He said that Jharkhand would play a vital role in fulfilling the dream of prime minister of doubling the income of the farmers by the year 2022. The Chief Minister said that tribal women are mostly involved in agriculture and animal husbandry sector in the state and it is the result of their hard work that in the last 4 year agriculture growth rate has seen a positive growth of 14 pc and exuded confidence that with the help of the hard work being put in by the farmers of the state the target of doubling their income by the year 2020 would be achieved. The Chief Minister said that after Gujarat Jharkhand was the second state which organised the Global agriculture and food summit in which farmers were given knowledge about the modern techniques in farming and so far 124 farmers from the state have been sent to Israel to learn the modern techniques of farming and these farmers who have returned from Israel are using the methods in their own works and trained farmers are also according importance to organic farming as in the entire world there is used demand for Organic products and assured that the farmers need not worry for the market as that would be provided by the state government. He asked the farmers to accord importance to maximize production with less investment and suggested them to use drip irrigation method in their farms and suggested that they do Cooperative farming so that with less investment production can be maximized and said that during his visit to China he had seen more than one lakh cooperative societies being involved in agriculture work.

Mr Das said that the government would be providing 70 per cent subsidy on agriculture equipments if the farming is done through co-operatives and assured that the government was with the farmers as it wanted to bring smile on their faces and said all the schemes in the state have been built for the all round development of the villagers poor farmers youth and women and called upon them to form district Federation Cooperative Society of farmers milk Federation society poultry Federation society etc.

The Chief Minister said that farmers are not vote bank and said that in the last 67 years there was no improvement in the economic condition of the farmers and the day Prime Minister Narendra Modi came to power he expressed concern over the condition of the farmers and came up with policies which could ensure their all round development. He added that on many occasions loan wavier has been announced but it did not improve the conditions of the farmers and it was Prime Minister Modi who has set a target to make them economically strong by the year 2022. Those present on the occasion also included Agriculture minister Randhir Singh Ranchi MP Ramtahal Chowdhary Chief Secretary Sudhir Tripathi Agriculture Secretary Pooja Singhal and others.
