JVM(P) to move high court seeking disqualification of MLAs

Ranchi: The Jharkhand Vikas Morcha (Prajatantrik) will be approaching the High Court and will file a writ petition seeking the disqualification of the six MLAs who joined the BJP after the assembly elections of 2014 despite winning on the JVM(P) symbol.

The move of the party follows as earlier in the day the Speaker Court of Dinesh Oraon ruled in favour of these MLAs and subsequently dismissed the petition filed by former Chief Minister Babulal Marandi and JVM(P) legislature wing leader Pradeep Yadav who had sought the disqualification of these MLAs citing violation of 10 schedule of the constitution.

Lawyer Raj Nandan Sahay who represented Mr Marandi before the speaker’s court told reporters outside that the demand of his client has been rejected by the Speaker and now the party will look at the judgment. He said that the party has many options before it including filing the writ petition before the High Court seeking the disqualification of these MLAs.
