Jharkhand Police says no irregularities committed in purchase of DFMD

Ranchi: the Jharkhand Police on Saturday clarified that no irregularity was conducted in the purchase of DFMD and said that after repair in the last 11 years only 51 DFMD was working across the districts and it was wrong to claim that 1000 DFMD was in working condition in the state. The state police said that keeping in mind the security of the VVIPs and the VIPs the special cell at the headquarters had issued advertisement of 15-5-2018 to purchase 125 DFMDs on a priority basis. 

The Jharkhand Police in order to purchase these devices in 2017-18 and 2018-19 issued a total of four tenders but due to some reason or another in the first three tenders the companies participating could not meet the technical criteria but finally in the fourth tender as per the norms of the union home ministry the sample of MS Nikon Electronics Private Limited was found to be correct and it was decided to purchase each DFMD at Rs 5.16 lakh.

The police department said that after that technical committee found the company suitable in a completely transparent
manner it was decided to purchase the DFMD. The cost of DFMD on GeM portal as on 5-2-2019 is Rs 6.65 lakh which shows that
the state police has saved Rs 1.48 lakh on per unit and overall the department would be saving Rs 1.85 crore. The the state police
said that during the visit of the Prime Minister the DFMD had to be brought on rent from a Delhi based company on an average rent
of Rs 18 to 20 lakh and if the purchase would have been made earlier than the money would have been saved.
