Special area committee member of CPI Maoists surrenders before Giridih Police

Giridih: Jharkhand-Bihar special area committee member of the CPI Maoists Praver alias Balbir alias Charka alias Barati Mahto who was carrying a reward of Rs 25 lakh on his head today surrendered before the Giridih police. DIG Hazaribagh zone Pankaj Kamboj said that police had got in touch with the family members of the ultra and had informed them about the benefits of the surrender policy.

He said that the family was told as to how a dreaded ultra Babuchan had taken advantage of the surrender policy and returned to the mainstream of life. The DIG asked the Maoists to surrender and return to the mainstream of life or get ready to face the bullets. Mr Kamboj said that Mahto will be provided all the facilities as per the government rules and as an immediate compensation he was given a cheque of Rs 2 lakh.

After the surrender, the Maoist said that groupism has taken over the ranks of the ultras and youth were being misled to join as ultras and since he was fed up with the anarchy prevailing in the organization he had decided to give up his arms. The ultra was wanted in several incidents including those related to the killing of the than Pakur SP Amarjeet Balihaar, attack on police party in Chaibsa and another two dozen cases registered in Giridih and Santhal Pargana region of the state.
