Garhwa MLA threatens to resign over pathetic condition of NH-75

Ranchi: BJP’s Garhwa MLA Satyendra Nath Tiwari cornered his own government over the pathetic condition of NH-75 and threatened to resign over the poor quality of small bridges and culverts which have been built on the road.

Raising the matter during the question hour in the house, he took pot shots on the style of road construction department stating that the cars moving on the road are being forced to do ‘long jump’ and ‘high jump’ due to the poor quality of culverts and small bridges which have been built by the firm Patil Constructions. He pointed out that due to lack of diversions on the road more than 100 people have also lost their lives and were also not given any compensation.

Replying over the issue, Parliamentary Affairs Minister and minister-in-charge for the road construction department Neelkanth Singh Munda said all parameters are taken into consideration before making the DPR for any project and said that condition of NHs and state roads was worth traveling in Jharkhand and claimed that 98 percent roads in Jharkhand were good. However, he said that cases of accidents are not monitored by the road construction department as it was a matter for the police and on the other hand the issue of compensation was related to the disaster management department. However if any wrong has been committed than action would be taken against the guilty, the minister pointed.

However, his reply failed to satisfy the legislator who threatened to resign from the membership of the house over the poor quality of the NH-75 and challenged the minister to travel on the NH-75 especially on the stretch to Latehar in which culverts measuring four feet high have been constructed.
