Mukyamantri Sukanya Yojana is aimed at empowerment of girls says Raghubar, distributes Rs 2.96 crore among 5623 beneficiaries

Ranchi/Gumla: Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das said that the purpose of Mukhyamantri Sukanya Yojana is complete empowerment of the daughters of the state. Addressing a programme organised at Albert Ekka Stadium in Gumla here which was aimed at creating awareness on the Sukanya Yojana he said that realising the declining sex ratio in the many states Prime Minister Narendra Modi from Panipat of Haryana started the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao scheme however as far as Jharkhand was concerned here there was not much of a difference.

He said that the sex ratio among the tribal community was good but those people who live in the cities they indulge in carrying out an ultrasound to determine the sex of the child due to which the number of girl child was declining in the state. He said that the health department has been given clear cut instructions to curb female foeticide and warned that such hospitals or doctors who would indulge in this task either their license would be canceled and would be sent to Jail.

Mr Das said that in order to make the women power further strong the Sukanya Yojana was started from Chaibasa on January 24 on the occasion of the national girls day and asked the people not to make any differences between the girls and the boys. Mr Das pointed out the example of a couple of girls from Gumla who had revolted against early marriage and are now studying in Kasturba schools. He said that the act of these two girls forced him to think about such a scheme which would ensure that their studies are not impacted and also they are not forced to marry at a tender age and undergo the pains of poverty and illiteracy.

Mr Das said that whatever schemes have been made under Prime Minister Narendra Modi are aimed at the welfare of the of the poor, farmers, workers, students and women which has benefited all the sections of the society. Mr Das asked the girls to call at 181 in case they are pressurized for early marriage and asked the people not to marry their girls at a tender age. He said that the state government was committed to double the income of the farmers of the state for which apart from agriculture it has also accorded focus on animal husbandry, horticulture and organic farming. He said that for the first time after Independence any Prime Minister has thought about the welfare of the farmers as the center has decided to provide them with Rs 6,000 while the state government was already giving Rs 5000 under Krishi Aashirwad Yojana in the state.

The Chief Minister said that under Modi rule there is no place for corrupt and middlemen and said that if Rs 100 travels from center it directly reaches into the account of the people. He also highlighted the various steps which have been taken for empowerment for the women in the state also in the area of providing a benefit of social security schemes to the people. Those who were also present on the occasion included Union Minister for State Sudarshan Bhagat, Jharkhand Assembly Speaker Dinesh Oraon, MLA Shivshankar Oraon, Padam Shri Ashok Bhagat, Commissioner South Chottanagpur Shubhra Veram and others.

During the function, the Chief Minister also distributed Rs 2.96 crore among 5623 beneficiaries of Sukanya Yojana, handed the keys of
home to the beneficiaries of PMAY and also distributed appointment letters and cheques among women to set up poultry units.
