Business washed out as MLAs united to demand cancellation of 6th JPSC mains exam

Ranchi: The Jharkhand Assembly on Monday saw a rare sign of unanimity among the members of the treasury and the opposition benches who demanded that the mains exam of the 6th JPSC be canceled by the state government.

As soon as the house assembled for the day the after a gap of 5 days the members of the entire opposition stood on their seats demanding the sixth JPSC exams be canceled. The leader of the Opposition Hemant Soren said that since the starting of the budget session the matter was being raised in the house both by the members of the ruling and opposition benches. He said that even the students have gone to the homes of the ministers and apprised them of the situation. Mr .Soren said that the government has unlimited power which should be used for protecting the future of the students.

He alleged that with the use of bullets, police and administration the exams of the 6th JPSC mains paper was being conducted and said that if the state government and JPSC wanted more students to appear in the exams than why not declare the entire students
pass. He said that now the issue was no longer confined to the reservation policy but smelled of larger corruption. He pointed that out of the 55 people who were involved in scrutiny 18 of themselves are appearing in the exam and said that those passed in PT have
been decalred failed while students who have opted for ‘khorta’ in their mains have been given admit cards for ‘English’. He demanded that the government should conduct a probe and than only hold the examinations.

BJP MLA Nirbha Kumar Shahbadi demanded that the report of the Bauri Committee be tabled in the floor of the house. On the other hand , Congress MLA Sukhdeo Bhagat pointed that only 27,000 students ewr given admit cards for the mains exam and suggested
that the high court will only look at the technical aspects while the state government needed to look at the other options. He said that till midnight yesterday the students were sitting on a demonstration outside the JPSC but neither the government nor the officials approached them. He said that the government was ready to talk with extremists but not with students who are on the roads and alleged that JPSC was taking shape of ‘vyampam scam’ in the state.

Bhanu Pratap Sahi of the Naujawan Sangarh Morcha questioned as to why the report of the Bauri Committee was not being tabled in the floor of the house and the recommendations of the minister are not being implemented. He said that the order of the speaker
was enough to ask the government to cancel the exams.

Badal Patralekh of the Congress said that the house should act helpless but should take a decision in the interest of the students and asked the Speaker to listen to his conscience as he too was not in favor of holding of the exams. BJP’s Chattarpur MLA Radha Krishna Kishore said some issues not be politicized and pointed that if the Bauri commission had been formed on the direction of the chair than its report should be tabled in the assembly. He pointed that it was in the rule of the JPSC that if a person is himself appearing in the exam than the person should not conduct the scrutiny and said that the opposition and the ruling
benches were on the same side over the issue and demanded that the government should conduct a probe and cancel the
examinations.

Rajkumar Yadav of the CPI(ML) said that JPSC has remained in the wrong news never since the creation of Jharkhand leaving behind the students worried for the future. He said that motives needed to be questioned as to why for 326 posts 106 times result was declared and alleged that outsiders were getting a job in the state while locals have been made to run after the courts.

Pradeep Yadav of the JVM(P) demanded that the examinations should be cancelled as when so many proofs of corruption were out in the open than it was better for the government to leave its stubbornness and cancel the exams and said that when the assembly will
be not able to protect the interest of the students it gives the message that only talks happen inside and no work is done and pointed that more than half of the candidates have not gone to appear in the mains exam.

Intervening into the matter Speaker Dinesh Oraon said that he was well aware of his limitations but on the other side was also aware of the seriousness of the issue and he has himself diverted from the league and has allowed all members to the speak over the issue
which may not be liked by some MLAs of the ruling benches and pointed out that when for the last four years the issue of JPSC has not been solved than it means that there are certain problems.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Neelkanth Singh Munda said that in the PT results 34,634 candidates were declared passed out of which 27,000 students have applied for the mains exam and pointed to the decision of the high court which was given earlier in the day where the court had refused to put a stay or cancel the exam over which Mr. Pradeep Yadav reminded that no where the court has stopped the government to cancel the exams.

Hemant Soren joining in the debate said that the future of the children of the state has been destroyed and directly the state government is also involved in this act and once again demanded that the exams should be canceled. On the other hand, Speaker Dinesh Oraon cancelled the two work adjournment motions which had been moved by different MLAs following members of the entire opposition stormed into the well of the house and indulged in slogan shouting after which the house was adjourned at 11.37 am to 12 pm.

After the house assembled at 12 pm, all MLAs once again reached into the well of the house and continued for slogan shouting after which the house was adjourned till lunch break. In the post-lunch session once again noisy scenes were witnessed with MLAs of the
opposition reaching into the well of the house and raising slogans after which the speaker adjourned the house till 11am Tuesday.
