Budget Session: High level probe into irregularities in PMAY, economic survey for 2018-19 tabled

Ranchi: The Jharkhand Government said that a high-level probe will be ordered into the alleged irregularities committed in execution of Pradhan Mantri Aawas Yojana in the state and pointed that the Rural Development has also asked the CBI to look into the matter as there have been instances of interstate financial irregularities in the project.

On the third day of the Budget Session of the Jharkhand Assembly, the state government also tabled the Economic Survey for the year 2018-19. Earlier Congress MLA Geeta Koda from Jaggarnathpur raised the question of irregularities being committed in the allocation of homes under PMAY in Kumardungi block of the West Singhbhum district where even in the name of dead houses have been allocated under the scheme and sought to know from the government the action which would be taken on the erring officials.

Replying over the issue Rural Development Minister Neelkanth Singh Munda said that the government was serious over the issue and order probe and take action against all the officials who would be found involved in the fraud/ irregularities in execution of PMAY. Joining in the issue Pradeep Yadav of the JVM(P) said that there was a need to look at the real reasons of these frauds and said that the problem was not confined to any particular district but was related to across the state and demanded that a high level committee should be formed over the issue.

BJP MLA Radha Krishna Kishore said that the scheme was meant for such people who are eligible as per the data of the socio-economic survey of 2011, however, neither in the block offices or panchayat secretariats a list of the beneficiaries under the scheme in mentioned. He said that people have the right to know their names and asked the government to point out measures taken to bring transparency in the scheme. 

Satyendra Nath Tiwari of the BJP pointed the example of Tilga panchayat where one Savita Devi had been served a notice for recovery of the money despite the woman not knowing that she had been sanctioned a home under PMAY and demanded that Garhwa district should also be covered in the probe.
