Banks must give KCC benefits to all farmers in view of drought - Abu Bakr Siddiqui

Ranchi: Secretary of the Agriculture and Animal department Abu Bakr Siddiqui has instructed all the banks that any farmers whether they are involved in agriculture animal husbandry milk or fish production should be given the benefits of KCC in view of the drought. Instructions were also been given to verify the beneficiaries under PM Kisan Yojana.

He was giving instructions to the high officials of NABARD and various banks in the second meeting of the Sub-Committee on Agriculture and Allied Activities of the State Level Bankers Committee in the auditorium of Nepal House for the year 2022-23.

Jharkhand Agriculture Loan Waiver Scheme was also reviewed during the meeting, Abubakar Siddiq asked the officials of the bank to review their branch-wise plan at the district level and give a certificate that the farmers under the scheme of the government.

Under the Agriculture Infrastructure Fund, the beneficiary submitted the plan proposal which was screened and approved by the PMU of the Government of India, although the bank has not provided loans to the beneficiaries yet over which the departmental secretary expressed displeasure.

He said that new FPOs formed in Jharkhand should be given fertilizer licenses. Expressed displeasure over the term loan given to farmers other than KCC was not in line with the target. He said that the achievement of some banks in the first quarter is not satisfactory, they should achieve 100 percent target in the coming time.

Agriculture Director Nisha Oraon, Special Secretary Pradeep Hazare, Directorate level officials, CGM of NABARD, senior officials of various banks were present in the meeting.
