Voter awareness forum started in IPRD

Ranchi: State’s Chief Electoral Officer L Khiyangate started the Voter awareness forum in the Information and Public Relations Department here during which a work shop on creating awareness among the voters was also held.

Speaking on the occasion Mr Khiyangate said people are always excited at the time of election over the use of EVM machines and ballot boxes and how does it functions. He said that the commission provides many facilities to the voters related to making correction in their names in the voter list, inclusion of names of any other changes which can now be done online. He said that any person who is 18 years of age can get their name registered in the voter list and to create awareness among the new voters electoral literacy club has also been started.

Mr Khiyangate said that the commission has come up with the slogan of every vote counts and said that the year was very important for the point of elections as Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha polls will be held this year for which the voters remained to be aware. He said that the department also organizes games and quiz for the voters related to elections. He said that under the forum similar programme will also be organized for the officials and employees of the other departments and said that on the occasion of national voters day on January 25 similar functions will be held.

IPRD Director Ram Lakhan Prasad Gupta said voting is the responsibility of all and every vote counts. He said that people have many misconceptions related to voting which needed to be removed by the means of this workshop. He said that conducting of elections can not be done by a single department and all departments need to actively contribute. On the other hand the deputy electoral officer Rajesh Verma througha  presentation showed the information related to ballot boxes EVM machines VVPAT and etc.
