Opposition parties boycott assembly to protest house running after 12.30 on Friday

Ranchi: The opposition parties on Friday boycotted the assembly proceeding as the house was running after 12.30 Pm on Friday.

The lunch break time on Friday is 12.30 due to Friday Namaz prayer of the Muslim legislators. Jharkhand assembly speaker Dinesh Oraon sought permission to run the house till the call attention was completed.

“The time of the house should be extended till the call attention is completed. The legislators who have to offer Namaz can go” said the speaker. The ruling party BJP members agreed to speaker decision. Jharkhand MUkti MOrcha (JMM ) legislator Stephen Marandi objected and said that the government was trying to change rule.

The assembly speaker tried to pacify the opposition legislator by saying “ this is not issue of the govt  rather it issue of call attention”.

The opposition parties like JMM, Congress, left parties and other boycotted the house and left the house.

Despite opposition boycott the house continued till call attention was completed and the state govt tabled third supplementary of Rs 2239.82 crores.
