Jharkhand Govt working on mantra of ‘Sarve Bhavantu Sukinah’ says Guv in her address to the house

Ranchi: Jharkhand Governor Draupadi Murmu today said that the state government was working on the mantra of ‘Sarve Bhavantu Sukhinah Sarve Santu Niramayah’ (may all sentient begins be at peace, may no one suffer from illness) for the betterment of the farmers poor weaker and marginalised sections of the state.

Addressing the house on the inaugural day of the Budget Session of the Jharkhand Assembly Ms Murmu said the state government has adopted the principle of development with justice and was taking along all the areas and communities together as the strategy for the development of the state is based on holistic progress feasible and economic growth. She said that it is the priority of the state government that all people should not only get the basic amenities of life including drinking water toilets and power but should also have access to better roads and other facilities. She said that the state government in order to make the women and youth stand on their feet has made arrangements for skill development, higher and technical education and all the other programmes of the state government are aimed at providing ‘sushashan’ (good governance) to the people.

Highlighting the achievements of the state government she said that without wasting time the government made changes in the earlier policy as per the need and framed new development oriented policies and also improved the working culture of the state. The government also fixed its priorities and focused on providing a clean and transparent administration, people’s participation, cleanliness and eradication of corruption, improvement in commutation facility, power, agriculture, irrigation, health, education and women empowerment, the governor said. Ms Murmu said that the government has also been able to establish a crime free environment in the state and established the rule of law and rapid improvement have been made in the law and order situation and effective action taken against Mafia and organised crime. She said that since the creation of the state Maoists were the biggest hurdle in the all round development of Jharkhand however due to the policies of the state government of surrender and rehabilitation
125 maoists laid down their weapons while more than 200 were arrested and these efforts have results in reducing the number of district which have been hit by LWE from 21 to 19. The governor also dwelt in details the various steps which have been taken by the state government for the betterment of the villages, rural economy, farmers and agriculture and also mentioned that how the policies of the state government have ensured a better life for the women, created employment opportunities for the youth through skill  development programmes.

She said that without the progress of the farmers the country and the state can not progress and for their empowerment in the fiscal 2019-20 Mukyamantri Krishi Aashirwad Yojana will be launched under which for every acre of land the farmers will be given Rs 5000 through DBT before the Kharif season and for the roll out of the scheme Rs 2000 crore would be spent. Further, the farmers will also be provided with smart phones in the coming fiscal while Sujalaam Suflaam Yojana will also be launched under which de-silting work will be done in river ponds, wells and other water sources to increase the water capacity so that situation of drought can be tackled. The governor also pointed the success which was achieved by the state government which organised  couple of global summits including those on food and agriculture and skill summit. 

She also detailed the various steps which have been taken to double the income of the farmers including focus on dairy, animal husbandry, fisheries and poultry. She also mentioned the steps which have been initiated for the betterment in education, health power tourism industrialization providing services to the people etc. In her message to the MLAs she asked them extend full cooperation so that the state government can fulfill all the schemes which are aimed at the  welfare of the people and expected them to rise above their political affiliations to seek solutions to the problems so that the state can move further ahead on the path of progress and stand among the developed states of the country.

However the governor speech was marred by frequent slogan shouting by the JMM MLAs lead by Leader of Opposition Hemant Soren. The JMM MLAs not only rose on their seats and raised protest against the claims of the government but remained
in the well of the house for the majority of one hour during which the governor spoke in the house.
