Old man trampled to death by wild tusker in Gumla

Gumla: A man in his sixties was trampled to death by a wild elephant in Nago Toli village under Palkot Police Station area of this district. The deceased has been identified as Laxman Mahto alias Chila Mahto. The deceased was going out for the toilet in the morning when suddenly he was caught by the tusker who trampled him. He was later rushed to the Sadar Hospital but he died due on the way.

Upon receiving information local forester Mahesh Prasad Gupta reached the hospital and gave Rs 10,000 as immediate compensation to
the family and assured that remaining pension will also be provided soon. Later the body was handed over to the family after conducting the postmortem. Villagers said that the tusker was alone and had detached from the group.
