Demand grows to provide 27 pc reservation to OBCs in Jharkhand

Ranchi: After the Lok Sabha passed the bill to provide 10 percent reservation for the economically weaker upper caste sections call
has gathered momentum in Jharkhand to provide 27 percent reservation to the OBCs in the state. National President of ‘Akhil Bhartiya Pichada Vargh Sangh’ Inder Kumar Singh Chandapuri said that Jharkhand has 60 percent OBC population who are just being provided 14 pc reservation which is completely unconstitutional. 

He said that in 2001 a cabinet sub-committee had been formed in which formed deputy Chief Minister Sudesh Kumar Mahto was also a member and this committee had recommended to increase the reservation to 73 percent. He pointed in whichever states the condition of the OBCs was socially and economically backward there the supreme court had ordered to increase the reservation as per which in Tamil Nadu the reservation was hiked to 69 percent.
